This year’s Katherine Mansfield Society Annual Birthday Lecture was delivered by

Professor Kirsty Gunn (University of Dundee), Patron of the Society.

Syntax and Time : Katherine Mansfield Gives Lessons in The Present Tense

Saturday 16th October 2021, 1-4pm

In this talk, incorporating short readings from her own and Mansfield’s work, Kirsty Gunn explored Mansfield’s innovative use of time in her prose writing that, in turn, causes a new kind of reading, transforming the way we now think about the use of tense and situatedness in contemporary fiction.
